A Brief history of MOL!

MOL (Singapore) Pte Ltd
  MOL history can be traced back to 1st April 1964, with the merger of Osaka Shosen Kaisha (OSK Line) and The Mitsui Steamship Co. Ltd (Mitsui Line).

Today as a comprehensive shipping and total logistics organisation, MOL has a global network offering tailor-made services linking sea, air and land transportation which enable us to meet a broad range of transportation needs anywhere in the world.



  MOL operates some of the most modern and highly sophisticated ships in the world

MOL is one of the largest shipowners in the world. Operations are centered on a fleet of more than
490 vessels, including many highly sophisticated
specialized carriers (Bulk carriers, Car carriers, liquefied natural gas carriers) to serve specific customers requirements. In addition MOL has activities in domestic ferry trades and cruise business.

The New World Alliance covers major ports in Japan, Asia, North America, and Europe

As a member of the New World Alliance (TNWA), MOL is making rapid progress in enhancing the quality of its extensive liner operations. TNWA offers customers a truly global service network which covers most major ports in North America, Asia, and Europe with direct calls, deploying about 100 speedy, advanced ships. It is the most competitive service in the world with more ports of call, higher frequency, and faster transit times.

 



MOL Container Terminals : the key crossroads in the total logistics network


MOL owns eight container terminals : Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Kobe, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle and Bangkok. These state-of-the-art facilities showcase the shipping and logistics techniques MOL has developed and adopted over the past century.

  A range of inland transportation options

MOL service doesn't stop at the water's edge. In the United States, double stack train (DST) service links ports with major inland markets, for fast, reliable deliveries. In Europe, and Southeast Asia, and Africa, MOL relies on trains, trucks, ferries, coastal liners, and barges to reach even the most remote areas.

MOL (Singapore) Pte Ltd an ISO 9002 certified company was established in Singapore in 1978. Initially a joint venture company between MOL Tokyo and the Singapore main board listed Singapore Shipping Corporation (SSC), MOL (Singapore) became a wholly subsidiary of MOL effective 26 December 2002.

MOL (Singapore) prides itself with its linkage to MOL's advanced on-line network, which fortify its customers with more speedy and responsive customer service and at the same time also bring more control and visibility to its global customers.
